Sustainable textiles

For hundreds of years, plants shaped a culture and fostered sustainable communities in rural Yucatán.

We are a modern, ethical and luxury brand collaborating with local artisans to create exquisitely handcrafted textiles. Using ancient techniques passed down through generations, our artisans are part of a growing movement in sustainable fashion. Henequén and sansevieria plants are not only an important local economic resource for rural communities, they’re environmentally sustainable, renewable and flourish without the need of fertilizers, herbicides and irrigation. From growing the plants, extracting their fibers, to drying, dyeing, spinning and weaving, the entire process of making our textiles happens within a 50-mile radius.

Through the creation of higher value textiles and products made from these plant fibers, our goal is to support, indefinitely, both the land and the rural communities. Improving economic development and preserving traditions that are at risk of disappearing is a commitment we’ve made to ourselves, our artisans and our customers. From land to loom, each Angela Damman product can generate economic opportunity for a dozen people in several communities, and each carries the mark of the hands that made it.
